Barre Company Trip ’25

In the autumn of 2025, our team spent several unforgettable days together in the scenic Zselic region. The weather could not have been more perfect, and each activity offered unique and memorable experiences.

Our journey began with the now-traditional Barré cake on the bus. This year, Iván’s delightful cherry and apple creation took center stage—and disappeared in no time.

After an excellent lunch at the Kassai Inn, we continued to the Kassai Valley, where we were personally guided by the renowned horse archer, Lajos Kassai. He shared with us the secrets of horseback archery and the story of his estate. We had the privilege of watching a Kassai-style archery demonstration and even tried our hand at archery ourselves.

A true highlight of the trip was our night visit to the Zselic Star Park. Free from light pollution, the park offered an awe-inspiring view of the night sky. With the guidance of astronomers and the help of telescopes, we admired Saturn, the Milky Way, and countless shooting stars visible to the naked eye.

Saturday morning brought a tractor-led deer-watching excursion, during which we learned fascinating facts about local wildlife—“The bellowing might sound more like crying.” Afterward, we sampled delicious local game dishes. The remainder of the day was spent at Katica Farm, where team competitions and traditional folk games inspired creativity and a healthy dose of fun. The most intense rivalries unfolded on the go-kart track, where everyone eagerly put their speed to the test, creating a true race-day atmosphere.

Our hotel, nestled in the heart of the forest, offered perfect peace and quiet. Evenings were filled with relaxation, conversation, “wine tasting,” light-hearted quizzes, and laughter. The Barré Challenge Cup found a new home once again.

It was a truly refreshing and inspiring experience—one that left us with many shared memories and renewed energy.
